Jeff Bezos Slams Joe Biden’s Latest Inflation Claim: ‘Direct Misdirection or Deep Misunderstanding’

After President Joe Biden called on companies running gas stations to lower gas prices, Jeff Bezos accused the US president of misleading the public or said he lacked an understanding “basic” forces that actually determine prices.

“Ouch. Inflation is far too big an issue for the White House to keep making statements like this,” Bezos said in a tweet on Saturday night.

In the initial tweet, Biden made a direct appeal to gas stations and encouraged them to simply charge less for gas.

“My message to companies that run gas stations and set prices at the pump is simple: This is a time of war and global peril. Reduce the price you charge at the pump to reflect the cost you pay for the product,” Biden said Saturday morning.

The president urged compliance, without hesitation.

“And do it now,” he ordered.

Bezos said the tweet was very telling to him and could reveal how little Biden knows about the market.

“It’s either direct misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics,” Bezos added in his response.

Comedian Tim Young also called Biden’s tweet a “complete bs.”

“Gas stations don’t control what they can ultimately charge,” he added. “People aren’t that stupid.”

Bezos has emerged as an unlikely critic of the Biden administration as Biden continues to try to blame record gas prices on everything leading up to the midterm elections.

Previously, Bezos and the White House argued over rising inflation, which the White House sought to blame on big companies like Bezos’ Amazon.
